You didn't need to unsolder your receiver, it was correct how you had it. by soldering those 2 pads together, you are now sending the correct signal to the pad that your receiver was already connected to.
Ok that just means the receiver isn't talking to the flight controller. Can you post 2 more pics like that but of the first 2 tabs, modes and configuration
