Hawk 5 receiver with no lights

Hi there,

I have just received by Hawk 5 (first drone i have owned). I can not seem to bind it to my qx7.

The problem is when i connect the battery to the hawk the FC powers on but there are not lights on the soldered on XM+.

Have i received a dud or do i need to turn the receiver on in beta flight.It was automatically set to uart1 rx on.


After spending 100's on all the kit to fly fpv this is abit disheartening.

Hi John, and welcome to the DRP forum!
Yeah, that isn't right, no LED's means no power in all likelihood. Do you have a meter that you can check across the 5v and ground pins to see if you have power being applied to the XM+ receiver?

I took it into work and had some of our aircraft engineers look at it.

It showed 4.7v so the receiver was toast.

Luckily I had another Rx that I got when I bought the qx7. Once attached all the lights came on. After work I will try and bind it.

The rx looks damaged. Not sure.

That RX looks terrible! The solder on the V-reg (3 pin chip at the top) look like poo, and it looks like components are missing also. Glad the new RX seems to be working, let us know how it goes.

All is well , first flight complete. No problems.

If anything my attitude v5 goggles were not as clear as i hoped, the osd also felt blurry.
