KISS vs. Betaflight

So I was thinking about building an ImpulseRC Reverb and KISS components seem to be a favorite for these frames. I am very familiar with Betaflight and BLHeli, but know virtually nothing about KISS and their software.

Is it easy to learn? If I know Betaflight very well, could I pick up KISS fairly quickly? What are some advantages/disadvantages of KISS?

Kiss is a completely different beast from everything I see and read, and while I think I want a RF and Kiss build both someday in my squadron, for now BF will have to do. Is it easy to learn, probably not from what research I did when I wanted to get started in that direction, it is a good bit more technical than BF or RF in what you need to do to get flashed, set up, and operating properly, but certainly not impossible.
