I think it all makes a difference, and it isn’t just about specs of optics or higher gain antennas. You don’t get anything for free, when you increase the gain of an antenna you lose overall coverage for greater reception in a reduced footprint, and how well someone likes fit and focus of one goggle over another is such a personal preference based on head size, inter-pupillary distance, wear glasses or not, just to name a few. I know this much, with a little practice I can fly wearing anything, but I have some highly rated stuff, it works pretty well for me, and I am always looking for a significant improvement if I can find it. If I had to says there was a minimum to get, it would be the eachine Goggle2, and the best is probably a fat shark goggle or HD box goggle or maybe commanders or some skyzones. But really, I can fly with my $50 Tactic box goggles if I have to no problem, but I tend to wear my HD3’s or my Commanders because they are a better experience overall for me... but even they aren’t perfect by any means. Unfortunately there is no 1 size fits all, or any single right answer to your questions.
