FWIW, with your charger (I have same), a press of either status button will give the voltage of each cell as it charges.

Take your props off or buy more band-aids. That said, I had bad motor (something bent) and managed to burn out my 4in1 during troubleshooting. Sounded a lot like yours. Having the prop off helped me see the wobble in the shaft (I think) or maybe I was more willing to move my eye closer.

I think it will fly. 40A may be more than you need for ESC. If you wanted to simplify you could go with an AIO stack (I am familiar with Magnum AIO but there are others) and includes F4, 4in1 ESC, PDB, VTX, Receiver, all for ~$120. Pro tip - if you want it anytime soon, order from dealer in US...

I am fairly new too (a few months), but I think you are spending too much on the quad if it is your first. I like the Emax Hawk 5 for half the price and that was more than I could handle as brand new pilot. You are going to crash a lot. Motors bend, ESC's go burn out, battery leads get ripped...
